Cocoa – fascinating food of the gods

Cocoa is present in our everyday life in many forms and therefore almost has become a matter of course. And so we have almost completely forgotten how it is brought to maturity in the various growing areas of the world with a great deal of know-how and loving dedication and how it is processed into the luxury food that we love and appreciate so much.

For us at Cameroots, cocoa is pure passion and also has a very personal component: The plantations in Cameroon, from which we obtain our beans, are still closely linked to our origin and family today.

The quality of the beans and cocoa products we trade is based on sustainable cultivation in harmony with nature. Our beans grow in a controlled area and are grown organically without pesticide treatment according to communal standards. Harvesting is done by hand and in a sophisticated rhythm that ensures the plants sufficient time to regenerate.

For us, Cameroots is the idea of great products born from our cooperative with a strong brand based on a sustainable business model.

We are engaged in Cameroon with the aim of giving local cocoa farmers there the most direct, unfiltered access possible to the market with fair-trade products and to ensure social and sustainable economic activity along the entire value chain.


Transparency. As simple as it is.

The cocoa market is a highly competitive market. By trading on the stock exchange, the price is set according to supply and demand. The prices farmers receive for their harvest vary constantly and are often extremely low. So low that in some cases it is barely enough to survive, let alone for their children’s school education. For this reason we have decided to counteract this by setting a fixed price for the cocoa of our cooperative. A price that allows the farmers to live a better life and plan for the future.

The warmth of Africa

Cameroon, also called „Africa in miniature“, is still the african underdog in relation to cocoa cultivation. Our single-origin beans are grown in Central Cameroon in mixed cultivation. The tropical savanna climate of this rainy region, with it’s diverse vegetation zones, offers ideal conditions for the flavour of our “Warmth of Africa”-beans.
